The first week of December (Tuesday the 6th to be precise), three of the club members participated in a computer science bowl. Our team members consisted of Xavier, Gabriel (president & vice) as well as Kevin who is also a member of the Mathletes Club at our school.
Approximately 8 schools participated in the event and each school was represented by a team of 3 members from grades 9 through 12.
The main focus of the competition was Programming Theory (e.g. algorithms, complexity, Project Euler). The first part consisted of paper and pencil problems. The second part consisted of exercises using a laptop which was provided for each team. The programming languages allowed were C++ and Java. The laptops did not have connection to the internet, but access to API was provided.
